Most student housing in New York asks you to choose between a shared dorm bathroom and a lease you cannot get without US credit. The 46 is neither. You take a private room with its own bathroom, you do not need a US guarantor, and you book for the length of your program: four weeks at the shortest, twelve months at the longest.
The address works for campuses up and down the West Side. The 1 train at 50 St runs local to Lincoln Center and Columbia; Fordham Lincoln Center and Juilliard are about a 20-minute walk or two stops away. The CUNY Graduate Center, Berkeley College and Circle in the Square Theatre School are a walk. NYU and The New School are one ride downtown.
Your room has a desk, a chair and a task lamp, so a deadline does not depend on finding a seat somewhere. When you want a change of scene there is a work and study room and a resident lounge downstairs, and Bryant Park and the main branch of the New York Public Library are four blocks south.
